Today, on the podcast, we are talking poop and bowel incontinence, constant daily reflux and embarrassing wind.
This is part two of my case study series and I'm talking about a specific client who had a whole lot of stuff going on but on paper actually had a really healthy lifestyle, ate really well and had drawers full of supplements. They felt embarrassed and really limited and came to me after trying a million different things and working with a lot of different people and having already done a lot of tests.
During our 3-4 month program together, she saw incredible progress. She was hoping things would improve, but she didn't expect stuff to just resolve itself completely.
I'm going to dive into why that is, what was different about her approach, what she did and about the strategy I applied so that you can do the same in your own life.
Like why was it that she made progress and, and also why wasn't this really healthy lifestyle that she was living?
I’ll look at why this healthy lifestyle wasn’t helping and why she wasn’t making progress? Because I know from talking with lots of you and my clients that you aren't sitting there eating donuts all day, or putting 10 spoonfuls of sugar in your tea or deep frying everything - You probably eat a whole food-ish diet and you probably know people that eat more unhealthily than you do yet, you are the one who feels like you're having symptoms than them and struggling with your health.
I remember feeling like that years ago and wondering why I was the one that felt awful when I had so many friends that eat utter crap all the time and they're doing fine yet, there I was trying to be healthy but I was the one who felt worse. It's a very frustrating place to be and this was the same for this client.
So, let’s dive in.

In today's episode, we are going to be looking at how you deal with chronic pain, anxiety, awful periods, bad sleep, even when everything is “normal” and even when you've done all the tests and no one can figure out what's wrong with you.
We are diving into the beginning of a new series over the next month or so where I dive into one of my client case studies. I'm going to be sharing what we did, what actions they took, what actually helped them, so that you can gain some real, actionable, tangible information from what we did with them, because some of what applied to them may apply to you.
You will hear more about what a holistic process looks like so that you can have hope and you can actually see that there is something else available for you.
Even just in the last few weeks, I have had two conversations with new clients where they ended our first session together and they said ‘oh my goodness. I have so much more hope now and I just feel like I'm not going to be stuck feeling awful’ - So often we are so used to tolerating feeling rubbish.
For example, if you've got low energy and IBS issues and you have that on a day-to-day basis, that becomes your normal. So, it's almost like we can't even imagine that changing and we don't even want to sometimes because it's too disappointing because we think that the change might not happen.
So, I want to share these stories in this series with you because they're all really different people, at really different stages of their lives - ages, genders and health issues and they all realised that they don't want to keep feeling like this and that they do have more power than they realise.
They came and worked with me and I've seen phenomenal shifts. All of these people also were hesitant about working with me from a cost perspective and all of them have said that it was totally worth the investment in terms of money and time.
I know that I personally love to hear real life stories and it's also easy for you to listen to this podcast and think that it isn’t going to work for you but if you can actually hear some totally different real people with real s**t going on in their lives and actually how they, without being perfect, without needing to do all the things they saw change and transformation.
I know that this will give you hope! I also want to gently shake up your perspective on this. Things CAN change. This is your one precious, beautiful, glorious life and you deserve to feel good!
Today I'l be talking about a client who was in chronic pain, had lots of anxiety, poor sleep, awful periods, lots of stress and just a lot going on.
She deserves to feel good, you know? And she knew that she didn't always know that, but she became aware that this was her one life - She didn't want to be anxious, in pain and saying no to everything, not doing anything and having zero confidence.
I want to just give a gentle Kezia-like shake, kick up the bum in a highly empathetic, understanding fashion.
I really get how hard this is and I really hope that you feel my heart. There's never any judgment here.

Welcome to this week's episode where I am talking about my latest gut microbiome test results and walking you through why I ran this test, what the test is, what it means, what my results are and what I'm doing about it.
I talk about the gut microbiome all the time on the podcast because it's so foundational. This episode is a deep dive into your gut microbiome and a practical approach to what you can actually do about it.
I'm spilling all the beans of what practical steps you can take and how we can gather information and be really empowered about our gut health because the better your gut microbiome is, the better your immune system, hormone balance, your skin, sleep, mental health, mood and cognitive function and performance will be. I could go on and on with this list.
In the last 30 years, the research on the gut microbiome has been really in-depth so we know so much more than we used to, but we actually don't know how to apply it because this is new (ish) in terms of what we know about the body.
So, I want to share with you all the information about my gut microbiome and the stool test that I ran recently (lucky you) and what it means.
There's some good stuff and there's some ugly stuff going on which is why I ran this test in the first place - You might think, okay, this is the nutritionist talking, she runs the Gut Goddess Show, her gut microbiome must be amazing It's not but it's better than it used to be.
I can tell you that the gut microbiome is like a garden. It requires tending to. When you have the right information, it's actually really simple. - At the end of this episode, I'll share my action plan with you.
The reason I am sharing this is because I know that if you can improve your gut microbiome, everyone benefits. You benefit, your systems benefit, from a preventative perspective your longevity benefits. Other people benefit because it affects your mood. It affects your brain. It affects your mental health.
You feeling better. You optimising and improving the things that you can influence and impact is obviously an incredible benefit to you. It's also a gift and an active service to those around you.
Most of the time, people would never want to invest in private tests like this because there's not tests available in the NHS, in the UK or are always done privately (So, you need to pay for them) Most people would never invest because they think it’s unnecessary, or it feels selfish to improve their health, or it feels uncomfortable.
But when you actually realise that you, the state of your brain, health, body, systems, hormones really obviously affects you, but it also affects everyone around you, investing your money and your time into your health actually becomes the least selfish thing you can do.
It's actually a really wise investment.
So, if you do one thing to work on your health in the next year, work on your gut microbiome and your insulin management. Those are actually two key foundational things for you to feel good now, in terms of impacting your mental health, your hormones, your skin, your sleep, but also from a preventative perspective, because yes, I want you to feel good now, but I also want to feel really good when you're 80.
I want you to be like that granny, who's gardening and doing yoga in her garden. Someone who is a really well, older person.

In this week’s episode, we are talking about what a truly holistic approach is.
Sometimes we can think of holistic approach as an approach that means less results, maybe less effective or related to using crystals and woo kinds of things.
I want to point out that a holistic approach is really one of the most logical and strategic approaches to have.
Listen to the episode to hear me go through a case study with one of my clients to give you an example of what a holistic approach looks like and that if you want to see incredible results in your body, your belly, your hormones, your energy, in your thyroid and in your skin, you need to a) yes, address your body and look at the systems and gather all that data and b) you also need to look at the context upon which your body has lived and lives.
You have to look at both. This is often part of the problem of why people don't see results or don't sustain results. They're only fixated on one problem. For example, if you have skin issues, you may look at what you can do to support your skin instead of having that holistic approach of looking at what your immune system is doing, your gut health, how much sleep you are getting, do you live in a toxic house? What's your relationship with work? We look at things as a whole - that is a holistic approach.
When you apply this approach, incredible results happen - that's the experience with me and my clients anyway.

In this episode, we are talking about why, when it comes to your health, your body and eating habits, things may have felt really hard. You might wonder why it is so difficult to feel good and to change your relationship with food and be well.
I’ll be talking about the system that we live in and how it has been set up against usd and how it's been set up to make it really hard for us to feel good.
I'm going to be sharing the 5 different aspects of the system that we live in that may have made your health difficult to manage so that you can stop beating yourself up, blaming yourself, thinking you should be further than you are, and just start owning where you're at and have some compassion for that.
Also seeing the wider context of your health can be so permission-giving and can just really help you to understand what's been going on.
So, this is going to be a really juicy episode. It's something that I don't hear anybody else talking about in the health space.
I don’t see this highlighted enough, and it is so impactful to know and understand. It will explain so much about why you are, where you are.

In this week's podcast, we are talking about what your hormonal symptoms mean. What does the heavy bleeding, the lack of period, the sore boobs, the painful cramping, not sleeping, the PMS, what potentially do they all mean?
These are all really common symptoms, but I would argue that they’re not exactly normal. They are your body telling you something. I want to share this with you because your body is incredibly intelligent and it is always communicating with you and our job is to figure it out and listen.
But most of us haven't been taught that especially when it comes to female hormones and periods, because for the last multiple centuries, we have been shamed about all the things for having a period… And just to point out your period is basically the only reason humanity exists. So, I feel like we should know a little bit more about it.

Today we have session 4 with Jess. This podcast is a live session where we talk about the importance of supporting your nervous system, detoxification, weight gain and why that might be the case, what it has to do with inflammation and a whole lot of other stuff.
This session is a check-in with Jess who has just gotten her continuous blood glucose monitor. Jess is someone who has hypothyroidism. We started working together because she was having awful periods - She would suddenly go from really normal periods to awful ones with really bad fatigue and some weight gain even though nothing else had changed in her life.
These live session episodes are different because they can give you a little peek into what it actually means to heal your body and apply nutritional science and lifestyle medicine to your body. I think sometimes it can feel a bit like we don’t know what it means to do this and if we ever feel a bit unsure about something, we tend to not want to go and do it.
If you think holistic nutrition is all just about crystals and chanting, it's not at all, but maybe that idea puts you off working on your health holistically and you miss out on this whole healing modality/
I'm guessing you're listening to this podcast because you want to feel better because there's some area of your life, maybe it's a diagnosis, maybe you've just got symptoms where you are being told that everything is fine in your health but you don't feel fine. You probably want to feel better and I know that you can - There is always room for improvement.
I'm confident that you can feel better than you do right now.
I really hope that this podcast equips you and helps you in feeling better because that's the big goal, right?
When you feel better, everything changes - your relationships change, your earning potential changes. It impacts your family, how you parent, or if you can get pregnant, it impacts so many things, which is why I'm so passionate about health.
Your body really is the foundation of your life and I know that there's some really fun and awesome things that you're put on this earth to do, but you're going to really struggle to do them if you are not feeling great in your body, mind and health.

This week I am talking about the three fears that all my clients have.
This is something I've seen time and time again, and I know that talking about this will help you to know that it's normal to have fear. That when you want to improve your health or ditch certain symptoms you are saying you want CHANGE and change often comes with its friend FEAR. And I see these fears getting in the way of people making progress so I want to normalize them.
As these are things that each of my clients experienced, so I want you to know to what to expect. SO that when you freak out, get scared or think it's not going to work - you can say 'ahhh yep this is fear coming up and I was expecting it - its right on time! I must be on the way to transformation!'
So the three fears - that you maybe didn't realize were bubbling away under the surface are:
- The idea that it’s not going to work or nothing will change
- It will be SO HARD to do
- The investment of money, energy and time won’t pay off
When we can acknowledge these fears, and expect them to be there, we can have a lot more compassion and keep making progress. A key takeaway here is that if you want to create change, expect it to feel uncomfortable and scary at times.
Getting personalised support will make your life easier and help you push past these fears. Plus when you know what the problems are, when you have a strategy that targets those problems and you have the support to help you implement that strategy consistently, you will see incredible results.
