This episode is a deep dive into why stool tests are one of my most common live tests that I run with clients and why that's a game changer.
Why getting this type of data can really accelerate your progress and mean that even if you've been struggling with stuff for maybe a decade (which a lot of my clients have) - when you gather the right types of data and know what they mean and what to do about them, you can see results within a couple of weeks or within a couple of months, despite having struggled for years.

In this mini episode, I’m sharing some thoughts on this thing that we call ‘body love’ and loving all aspects of your body.
After working with a lot of women, I have found that often going from frustration and hate and disappointment and trauma with your body, making that jump to body love, it's like way too big. It's like a bungee jump. Some people wanna do it. A lot of people are like, ‘No, thank you’.
If you know you have a toxic relationship with your body and you know there's dieting, there's harshness, there's unkindness…or another way of thinking about it is: Are you a bully to your body? Are you harsh, mean, critical? Always picking on the flaws, always pointing out the squidgy bits, the fat bits, whatever.
If that is the relationship you've had with your body and you want to shift it, it can be really helpful, instead of jumping from like A to B or doing this massive bungee jump to try and get to body positivity or body love to actually just aim for appreciation and maybe even just neutrality.
So, it could be that you're not necessarily saying that you start doing affirmations about how much you love the cellulite on your legs, but you might just really start to appreciate your heartbeat and the fact that it beats and you don't do anything about that. You don't make it happen. You don't force it to happen and it just beats, maybe you appreciate your lungs, expanding, contracting, expanding, contracting. Maybe you think about your toes and how they help balance your feet. Maybe you think about your skin and how awesome it is.
Yet maybe it has blemishes, maybe it has scars, but it contains you, it protects you. Maybe you want to think about your hair or your sight or your nose.
Really do a deep dive, just a scan of how you can appreciate your body a little bit more and then instead of jumping to, ‘I love my body’ thoughts, think about more neutralised thoughts like: I appreciate my body / I have a body /I'm learning to acknowledge my body / I'm learning to respect my body with the choices and food that I eat.
You don't have to go from, ‘I hate this' to ‘I love it, everything's fine, I love everything about it’
But a great middle ground while you shift your relationship with food is appreciating your body and I honestly guarantee as you appreciate your body more, the way you treat it will naturally improve, the choices you make will change because with appreciation over time comes building respect and with respect comes different choices.
When you're bingey and criticizing yourself, there's no respect going on for your body, for your temple, for your vessel but as you cultivate appreciation, you cultivate all the ways that your body gives to you. And yes, there's maybe stuff to work on and that's okay, but you can actually focus on all the ways that your body serves you. You can appreciate that and hopefully build some respect.
Respect for your body is actually incredible and that can take you so far and completely transform your relationship with food and relationship with your health.
You don't have to unconditionally love every aspect of your flesh, but we can appreciate it, we can respect it. And therefore when we respect and appreciate something, we honour it with our choices and actions.

This week on the podcast, we are looking at how history has set your brain up to fail when it comes to you having a well healthy, energised, balanced, awesome body relationship with food and wellbeing.
I really think that your awareness of this, awareness of history and your mindset and the psychology and some of the things that you may be consciously aware of in the day to day will really help you to have a more compassion towards your body and your health, which will then help you to make more progress and see results with more speed and ease.
So, often people that I work with beat themselves up and take their current situation, their current symptoms, health diagnosis, the current area of struggle that they find themselves in, and they just blame it on a personal failing, their lack of discipline, their lack of self-control, their sugar addiction, etc.
It can be really helpful sometimes to become aware of the context of your body and life and health choices because you will see the most and biggest and most easy to sustain results when it comes to your health, when it comes from a place of compassion.
If you try to bully and criticize and push your way into balanced hormones and a better body composition and improved gut health and no more IBS and a better improved mood and all these things. If you try and push that, you might see results for a short period of time, but you're not going to see that effortlessly healthy lifestyle that you probably want.
So, that is what we're diving into today. I am recording this on Halloween, which is fun, and it's going to be a bit of a Samhain/Halloween themed podcast because of some of the history that I'm sharing. I hope you enjoy!

As part of our, Your Body is a Temple Series, we are diving into sleep today because sleep, if you really take the approach that I'm gonna share with you today is one of your secret weapons to getting the results that you want in your hormones, in your body composition, in your gut health, in your belly, in your energy, in your mental health, in all those areas with more speed and ease.
And it actually has very little to do with food, but this is something you can focus on even if you feel like your relationship with food is rather fraught or you're maybe working on a really disordered approach to food.
This is something that you can focus on that's gonna give you results, which is awesome.
I'm going to be sharing some of my own journey with sleep. For those of you that don't know, last year, I had twins, and I had a two year old and so, you know, sleep, as with a lot of parents with young kids, is something that is a discussion that I have every day at my house.
So, I have learned so much about sleep since having kids because I have really focused on how I can optimise my sleep in order to support my brain health and my mental health, especially in that postpartum time. I've really focused on this since my son was born, so for the last four years, I have been on it, in terms of how I can hack my sleep, and I'm going to share some of those things with you today.

You might not think this has anything to do with your bloating, your hormones, your energy levels, or your belly, but learning how to feel your feelings is potentially the thing that is gonna unlock.
This week we are talking about something that is really important and this could be something that's potentially getting in the way and stopping you from seeing the results you wanna see.
It could be making your gut, or hormones worse, it could be draining your energy, it could be getting in the way of you sorting out your belly.
What are we talking about?
Feeling your feelings.
So, in this episode, I'm going to dive into why flowing through and expressing or processing your emotions and your feelings, especially the more uncomfortable ones, is really important in order for you to heal and repair your body.
I know that if you're anything like me, you might be a little bit cynical and be like, ‘what has this got to do with my below tank Kezia?’
But I assure you it has everything to do with it, and it could be the reason you're not seeing results.
I'm going to explain the actual biological process and also give you some tools/my two-step process in terms of helping you feel your feelings.
So, this is gonna be a juicy episode. Enjoy! I know this might be a little bit different. We're not talking about prebiotics and gut bacteria and the microbiome and fungi and viral things etc… but this actually really does make a difference and for about 80% of my clients, this plays a huge role.

If you are anything like me, you've been told that this specific thing that I'm gonna share about in this podcast is your job to do, your role to fulfil, your thing to manage.
I'm here to tell you, it's not. It's not your job. You don't have to do it.
If you are doing it, it's probably derailing your health results. It's probably getting in the way and keeping you stuck.
This is a message that I got and I literally just had to stop what I was doing and record this podcast cuz it felt like something that just needed to come through.
It's a little bit more to do with some of our brain conditioning and our mindset and some of the beliefs that we have and it's something that I have had a revelation of about my own brain and my own conditioning recently. It’s really powerful when you see the threads of this in your life and how it's then impacting your health.
You can suddenly have a lot more compassion on yourself for maybe not having made the progress you've wanted to have made and also just helps you to see and understand that this is why stuff can feel hard.
It can be the reason why I can feel afraid or anxious or get really stuck or constantly self sabotage or always get in my own way or when I look back the last several years and feel like I've made no progress in terms of my relationship with food, my relationship with my body.
This could be why and you might feel like it resonates with you like a 100% percent, 80%, maybe 60% or maybe even just 10%. I'm pretty sure if you listen to this podcast often, there's a part of this message that will resonate with you and will be an invitation for you to go deeper.

This week we are talking about how trauma and traumatic experiences can massively derail your physical health and what your bloating, autoimmune issues, diagnosis and skin issues have to do with traumatic experiences and of course what you can do about it.
I'm going to be sharing some of my own journey with this. So, it's going to be a bit more of a vulnerable podcast.
I'm going to be sharing some of what I've been going through for the last four years and what that's looked like and really just my experience with this both from myself and also with my clients.
Just so that you can be aware and know that you really are, one being and one body. How these traumatic experiences (which I'll explain more about what that means) really can impact you and potentially be the root cause of some of those annoying symptoms that just won't disappear.

So, what is the secret to big results? What is the secret behind my client's big transformation stories?
What allows people to see more results with more speed and more ease?
I'll tell you.. It is regulating your nervous system and learning how to do it and I know that doesn't sound sexy, but honestly, when you get this, everything changes and becomes easier and you just start to feel better.
Learning to regulate your nervous system is something that I do as a holistic nutritionist, but is really unique to my practice and is so foundational. What you eat matters, but if your nervous system is chronically stressed, if you are in a chronic, sympathetic nervous state, you won't see the results you want to see.
So, I'm talking about how we do that and what that looks like because when you get this, everything changes.
This is an area that for me has been big. It's been hard to do and I'm constantly working on it.
But honestly, when I changed this, everything changed.

We are kicking off a new series and this series is going to be exciting!
I'm going to share both the science and the sacred practices that are going to transform your health and give you results with more speed and more ease.
It's all about your body being a temple and blending the science and this holistic approach to your body.
Your body is a temple. Well, is it, is it really? And what does that actually mean? What does that look like on a Monday morning?
This is something I do really naturally and I'm really good at, but I know from working with so many people that a lot of the time we might have this idea that our body is a temple, but really we have no practical grounding for that. We don't know how to ground that into daily practical action.
I could also call this series the how to sort out your nervous system series because essentially that is a little bit of what we're talking about, but I'm gonna be sharing some of my more personal and vulnerable stories and look at what I know to be true.
And that is that your body is a temple. It is divine. It's not just flesh and bone. There's mind, body, soul, and yes, the food that you eat matters, but the reason you make those food choices is:
- because of these soul connections.
- because of these beliefs.
- because of these thoughts about how valuable and how precious your life is.
- because you know your uniqueness and you can own that.
You know the role that you have here and you know that you're precious and that you're cared for and worthy. So, of course, you're going to eat in a way that aligns with that.
That is a really different approach to ‘I really shouldn't eat gluten’
You know? Do you feel how different the energy is? Kezia said ‘I shouldn't eat sugar’ versus ‘I am a temple. I have been filled with creative life and spirit and soul’ (whatever your beliefs or religious beliefs or non religious beliefs are, are all welcome here.).
‘I am this precious divine child of God, here uniquely on this earth at this time to be and do unique and glorious and beautiful and simple and small things.’
Of course, I'm gonna make food choices based on that. Of course, I'm going to eat in a way that supports that. It's a really different approach.

I have decided that I'll be running an in person luxury Scottish retreat at the end of this year in probably in November (I'm still ironing out the details)
It's going to be called ‘The SHIFT Retreat’
It will be a really small intimate, powerful group, with completely homemade organic food. It will be about the integration of this way of looking at a whole person approach of this science and the holistic approach and the sacred approach and the practices.
