So, as a recovered binge and comfort eater, how do we move on and let go of bingeing and comfort eating? How can we fix this habit and behaviour? And also what is it telling us about our bodies and our lives? That is what we are looking at today in this week's episode.
How can you fix your binge and comfort eating? Because this is something I've worked on with a lot of clients and also work through myself and I am going to share some stuff in today's episode that I basically can guarantee you've not heard before or thought about when it comes to this area.
Most people's approach to bingeing and comfort eating is this, ‘just stop it’ mentality (Dealing with the habit)
Whereas in true holistic nutritionist style, I really want to look at the root cause. Why are you bingeing? Why are you comfort eating?
Because when you can figure out what the real problem is, you can actually solve it. And bingeing and comfort eating, they're just symptoms of a deeper root cause and that is what I'm going to share with you in today's episode.

Why does investing in your body and your health feel scarier than, let's say buying a new car or booking a holiday?
Why do you get the absolute panic when you hear about the cost of organic food or the cost of working with me or a yoga class or therapy, you're just thinking ‘Nope, too expensive’
Why do we get that really big emotional response? Or that just panic, that sheer money panic of “aha, I can't do it”?
Cause if you’re anything like me, you have felt that panic.
It's really important that we address your health and your wealth because when we look back at history and how women's bodies have been treated and how women's financial empowerment has been, women have had a very disempowered relationship with their bodies and with money in the past. And it's time that that changed.
We need to change that narrative moving forward. It might be that your relationship with money is getting in the way of your health.
It did for me for years. I would've made so much more progress if I had just dealt with my relationship with money sooner because it was getting in the way of me making progress in my health.

This week on the podcast, we are talking about how you hit the reset button when life happens.
We're talking a bit about alcohol, about body composition and weight.
Plus Jess is back! So, if you've been listening to the podcast for a while, you know that last year I did regular sessions with Jess with consultations and informal sessions on the podcast.
So, if you enjoyed last year's sessions with Jess, welcome. If you want to catch up, if you don't know what I'm talking about or if you're new to the podcast, then you can go back to the show notes and catch up on some of the previous episodes.
This week we're really talking about hitting the reset button because #lifehappened to Jess and some just big stuff happened so we had to stop and she wanted to restart again.
It's probably about 7/8 months since we recorded. And so our last recording, she'd made loads of progress with her hormone symptoms. The main reason we started the sessions together was because her hormones were just going crazy.
She's always had steady Eddie periods - 28 days on the button, no real drama then all of a sudden they just went a bit mental and she wasn't really sure why.
She knew she had thyroid disease but she wasn't sure if she had antibodies and Hashimotos, so we ran some tests.
She's anemic. Her body composition has been struggling with weight yo-yoing backwards and forwards and gaining weight and not losing it, low energy, brain fog, all these kinds of things.
When we last checked in with her, she was doing a lot better and a lot of her hormone stuff had disappeared and she was mainly wanting to focus on body composition. So, we are checking in today and we're going to talk about alcohol and body weight and resetting all that.

This week we are looking at holistic approaches to anxiety and depression, part two. So I am gonna be sharing with you the six other steps or actions or things that you can do to really help support your mental health, your joy, your wellbeing, your peace, your sense of calm, your motivation, and your brain.
Essentially, I'm giving you the rest of this holistic picture. So, if you haven't listened to part one, make sure you go and do that here where I address the first 4 things.
Today we're talking about food, supplements, detox support, feelings, nervous system, regulation, therapy, trauma work, all the juicy things because when it comes to your mental health, there is so much that you can do to support it. There's so much that you can do to help your brain, your mood, your motivation.
Having struggled with anxiety and mental health issues on and off for all my life really, this is something that is so close to home, but I also really have felt the benefit of this holistic approach in my mental health journey and I see it all the time with clients as well.
So, I'm sharing with you 10 different things that will help inside both part 1 & 2 and I really recommend you implement at least one of these things to support your mental wellbeing.

What are some holistic approaches that you can have towards anxiety and depression in your overall mental health? Mental health is something I talk about a lot with clients and sometimes we have never been told, or we just don't realise that there's actually so many things that we can do to really bolster and support our brain and our mental health.
This is going to be part one of a 2 part series, and today I'm sharing the first of four things that you can do to really support your brain so that there can be more joy, more balance, and that you can really think about cultivating your mental health because this is something a lot of us struggle with and it's really important to have this conversation.
And, it's really important that you know that you are empowered, that there are options, that there are choices when it comes to your mental health.

So, today's topic is SO important. When you understand and realise it and allow this idea (and revelation) to seep into your bones and your brain, everything will change.
In order for you to make fast progress and see big results in your hormones, your belly and your energy, you need to understand and lean into this truth.
And, it's the truth that nobody is coming to do this for you. Nobody is coming to work on your health for you or your hormones or your gut health or your energy.
The reason is that nobody is more powerful than you!
So this podcast is really a bit of a gentle and loving wake up call to help you understand that you are far more powerful than you've ever been told or more than you've ever realised.
So, if you are feeling like you need to be inspired, if you're feeling stuck and you're unable to make some of the practical steps that I talk about and you are thinking ‘yeah, I know some of the things, the practical stuff we've talked about Kezia, but I don't seem to be able to do it or apply it or be able to apply anything consistently.’

So, how can you do less things, be less overwhelmed and less stressed out about your health and still actually make progress?
We often think about doing less. We think ‘yes, I could be less overwhelmed, I could be less stressed, but the cost of that is that my stomach doesn't actually change, my belly doesn't change, my energy doesn't change. I actually don't see those practical, tangible results.’ But that is not the case.
So, how do you do less things and keep making progress, and how do you really accelerate your progress?
Let’s say you're sitting here at the start of the year and you're just feeling tired, frumpy, burned out. You're too tired and overwhelmed to figure out where to begin. You suspect you've maybe got gut issues or maybe thyroid issues. You suspect there's some stuff going on. Maybe you've had test results, maybe you haven't. Maybe you've been told everything's fine and you're like looking down the barrel of this year and looking back maybe at the previous years and thinking ‘oh my goodness, I’ve felt like this for ages and it's not changed. I've tried to shift this and I haven't gotten to where I want to be.’
If you're already tired and burned out and a bit fatigued and overwhelmed, the idea of working on your health can feel like another overwhelming, fatiguing, tiring thing.
So, you're just thinking that you are stuck in a vicious circle that will never change (which I have felt before and that's why I want to do this Podcast)
You feeling good doesn't actually require you to do a bazillion things. It does require you to do a couple of things though and that's what I want to talk about in this episode: How do we do less and still make progress.

This mini episode has two main focuses. Number one is I wanna personally invite you to come and join me in the shift retreat, which is in a luxury in-person retreat happening in Scotland just outside of Edinburgh in March.
